Meet Mr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos

I am a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon with extensive expertise in Robotic Thoracic Surgery, currently practicing at the Cleveland Clinic London.

Previously, I served as the Clinical Lead for Robotic Thoracic Surgery at the internationally renowned University College London Hospitals (UCLH), where I led the development and implementation of advanced minimally invasive techniques. I am fully trained and certified in the use of the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System and other keyhole approaches for the treatment of lung cancer and a wide range of thoracic conditions.

My clinical interests include the surgical and non-surgical management of chest wall deformities such as pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of slipping rib syndrome. I run a dedicated and internationally renowned clinic for patients with slipping rib syndrome, providing expert evaluation and tailored management for this often underdiagnosed condition.

I also have a particular focus on the robotic surgical management of complex conditions including myasthenia gravis, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A significant portion of my time is also spent performing scientific research to better understand how tumours form and investigate new ways to treat them. I have developed a strong academic interest leading to a significant number of publications and presentations in various national and international conferences.
